Westlands Inpatient Unit

Location: Hull

Client: MEC Humber

Sector: Healthcare

Services: Passive Fire Survey

Project details

Helix FMS was appointed by MEC Humber to deliver passive fire protection works at the Westlands Inpatient Unit, specifically focusing on highlighted areas within the boiler room. The initial survey took place across two visits, forming the basis of a detailed remediation strategy to address compartmentation issues identified on-site.

The purpose of the project was to support fire compliance within critical infrastructure, protecting service routes and escape paths within the facility. Our trained surveyors carried out a thorough inspection of the fire compartment walls and above-ceiling voids. All findings were captured through high-resolution photographs and marked-up drawings to support clarity and traceability.

After completing the fire survey, Helix FMS’s certified passive fire installers were mobilised to complete all remedial works highlighted in the report. Helping to reinstate the fire compartmentation integrity of the boiler room within this sensitive mental health facility. By partnering with a trusted contractor like Helix FMS, MEC Humber continues to demonstrate a proactive approach to fire compliance in high-risk healthcare environments.
