Helix FMS was instructed by The Freedom Centre to conduct a full fire door compliance check across all floors of their multi-use community facility. This proactive inspection was part of the Centre’s wider commitment to fire safety and building compliance.
Our team carried out a detailed visual assessment of each fire door set within the building, identifying areas where remedial work would be required to ensure the doors were fit for purpose and compliant with current fire safety legislation.
The project involved the visual inspection and operational assessment of fire doors across the premises. In total, 66 doors were assessed. 33 doors on the Ground Floor, 17 doors on the Lower Ground Floor and 16 doors on the First Floor.
Each fire door was photographed, and its location was marked on a cross-referenced floor plan, forming part of the final report submitted to the client.
Our fire door survey included the inspection of the following elements:
Door operation – swing, close, latch functionality.
Clearances – gaps around top, sides, and bottom.
Door frame condition.
Ironmongery – hinges, locks, closers.
Smoke and intumescent seals – presence and condition.
Signage – correct and compliant identification stickers.
Following the survey, Helix FMS compiled a detailed fire door condition report including: A fully itemised register with photographic evidence, marked-up drawings showing all door locations, observations and recommendations for remedial action. The report offers a clear, actionable roadmap for The Freedom Centre to improve its fire safety performance and support ongoing compliance.
