Helix FMS was appointed by The Constellation Trust to carry out comprehensive fire door surveys across both Sirius Academy North and Sirius Academy West in Hull. These vital surveys form part of the Trust’s commitment to ensuring the safety and compliance of their educational buildings for staff, students, and visitors.
Our role was to assess the existing condition, adequacy, and compliance of fire door sets across both multi-storey campuses, highlighting any areas requiring remedial work to meet fire safety standards such as BS 8214 and BS 476.
The Sirius Academy North inspection was across all floors of the facilities and included 34 doors on the ground floor, 29 doors on the first floor and 5 doors on the second floor. Our survey team conducted a full visual inspection of all doors identified on the building’s fire plans.
The Sirius Academy West inspection was also conducted across all floors and included 57 doors on the ground floor, 60 doors on the first floor, 37 doors on the second floor and 33 doors on the third floor.
The same rigorous inspection process was applied at the West campus. Each door was photographed and marked up on a cross-referenced drawing for clear visibility and traceability.
