Project details

Helix FMS was instructed by Yorkare Homes to carry out a comprehensive passive fire protection survey at Magdalen Park Care Home in Hedon, across the ground, first, and second floors. The project involved a detailed inspection of all fire compartment walls, focusing on identifying and sealing penetrations to ensure full compliance with fire safety regulations in this multi-floor care facility.

As a provider of care to vulnerable residents, fire safety is a top priority. This meant that our work had to be thorough, evidence-based, and carried out with minimal disruption to daily operations.

The survey included a complete walkthrough of all fire-rated walls as designated by the client, identification and photographic recording of all penetrations and linear gaps, and compilation of a comprehensive report detailing the necessary remedial actions in the Passive Fire Protection Register. The completed documentation not only ensures regulatory compliance but also simplifies future maintenance and inspections.

In high-risk settings like care homes, compartmentation is critical to protecting lives. By carrying out detailed passive fire works, Helix FMS helps to ensure that vulnerable residents and staff have the maximum time to escape in the event of a fire and that the building meets its legal fire safety responsibilities.
