Ferens Building
Location: University of Hull
Client: Helix CMS
Sector: Education
Services: Fire Door Survey & Installation
Project details
Helix FMS was appointed by Helix CMS to carry out a programme of fire door installation works at the historic Ferens Building, part of the University of Hull campus. The goal: upgrade existing fire doors to meet current fire safety legislation and support the university’s ongoing commitment to building compliance and student safety.
Our certified fire door installers attended the site and carried out a full installation programme which included: Removal and safe disposal of outdated fire doors, installation of advanced timber fire doors into existing openings and installation according to manufacturer specifications and in compliance with fire safety legislation.
All doors installed were certified under the BM Trada Q-Mark scheme and fully compliant with BS 8214 and BS 476. On completion of the works, a full Fire Door Register was compiled and provided to the client. This documentation now forms a key part of the University’s ongoing compliance and building safety records.
The Ferens Building now benefits from newly installed, fully certified fire doors designed to maintain safe compartmentation and provide critical protection in the event of a fire. The works were delivered on time, to specification, and with minimal disruption to building users, demonstrating our team’s commitment to precision, safety, and quality.
Educational institutions like the University of Hull rely on trusted contractors to ensure fire safety standards are met across campuses. This project reflects Helix FMS’s deep experience in the higher education sector, and our ability to deliver BM Trada certified fire door installations backed by clear documentation and regulatory compliance.
