Project details
Helix FMS delivered critical fire protection services at the new purpose-built Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Scunthorpe. The scope included a full passive fire protection survey across key fire-rated walls and the application of intumescent coatings to exposed steel structural elements.
This dual-service approach demonstrates Helix FMS’s capability to deliver comprehensive fire safety solutions tailored to project-specific needs in high-compliance environments such as healthcare.
Our passive fire protection works followed a detailed survey and installation process, all items were installed by third-party accredited professionals and are fully traceable and signed off in the final register.
In addition to passive fire sealing, Helix FMS was instructed to apply intumescent coating to multiple steel beams and columns as part of the fire resistance strategy. The steel supplier pre-applied primer to all beams and columns and Helix FMS applied the intumescent coat in accordance with structural drawings. A final top coat was applied to the 4 exposed steels in the front glazed area; other steels were hidden behind finishes. All coating thicknesses were applied as per the manufacturer’s technical data sheets, maintaining fire resistance integrity across the structure.
This comprehensive fire safety package helped ensure that the CDC building meets all relevant fire compliance standards, contributing to the safe and effective operation of this essential healthcare facility.
Helix FMS’s multi-disciplinary expertise, ability to coordinate across services, and high standard of documentation continues to build trust with repeat clients.
