Project details

Helix FMS was appointed by Cottingham Builders to deliver comprehensive fire door installation and passive fire protection works at the newly built Learning Centre at Castle Hill Hospital.

This dual-scope project focused on strengthening the building’s compartmentation strategy by ensuring all fire doors and fire-stopping measures were compliant, fully certified, and installed to the highest standard. As with all projects within the healthcare sector, the emphasis was on accuracy, safety, and long-term compliance.

Working from the fire strategy plan provided, Helix FMS installed fire-rated doorsets throughout the facility, ensuring each door met BS 8214 and BS 476 fire safety standards. A comprehensive Fire Door Register was produced for the client, detailing every installed door and its compliance status.

In parallel, Helix FMS also conducted passive fire protection works. The objective was to seal all penetrations in fire-rated walls and ceilings to maintain the integrity of compartmentation zones across the building.

All fire doors and fire-stopping measures were completed, fully certified, and signed off in accordance with the relevant fire safety standards. The client now benefits from a clear, itemised compliance record, providing peace of mind that the Learning Centre is safe, secure, and legally compliant.
