Helix FMS was instructed by long-standing partner Sewell Construction to deliver passive fire protection works at the Chemistry Building on the University of Hull campus.

This project formed part of a wider upgrade to the university’s science and teaching facilities, where safety, compliance, and long-term durability were paramount. Our role was to provide fire stopping installations on specific areas of the building identified by the main contractor.

Our certified team attended site following a full on-site induction. Working from specifications provided by Sewell Construction, the Helix FMS installers were directed to the items that required fire protection remediation. Each item was treated with care, and the work was carried out within a controlled environment to prevent disruption to ongoing construction activities or nearby university operations.

All designated penetrations and service points were successfully sealed using tested and approved fire stopping products, ensuring the building’s compartmentation aligned with fire strategy drawings and safety requirements.

The completed Passive Fire Register, including before-and-after photographs, was submitted as part of the official handover and compliance documentation, providing Sewell Construction and the University of Hull with a fully traceable and certifiable fire protection record.
